Exporters score well in Budget 2009 |
The Federal Government proved last night that it has been listening to what Exporters have been saying for a long time........more assistance was needed.....and to address the expected short payment of the second and final payout of the 2007-08 EMDG's. Firstly, the Government has kept to its pre-election promise by providing $50m additional funding for the 2008-09 year grant, to be paid from July 2009 onwards. No announcement has been made if grants will be paid in the two stages, as has applied for several years. The most important news is that the Federal Government will inject a further $50m into the EMDG scheme to be paid to the estimated 1800 exporters who are due to receive their second and final grant for the 2007-08 grant year in June 2009. It was earlier expected that the final payout would have totalled around 30% of the balance due. This meant that an exporter with a total approved claim of $150,000, would have received $40,000 when the claim was approved and 30% of the $110,000 balance or $33,000 at the end of June, bringing the total receipts to $73,000 or 48.67% of the approved claim. The good news is that all 1800 exporters will now receive 100% of the balance of their entitlements at the and of June 2009. |
